Private family services for Mrs. Betty White Maddry, 89, of Monroe, LA will be held Friday July 17, 2020, at First Methodist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Brian Mercer officiating. Interment to follow at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA

Betty was born in Homer, LA, on August 27, 1930, and passed away Monday, July 13, 2020. She was the only child of Claude Serpell and Velma Dewees White. She attended Louisiana Tech and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Betty married Warren C. Maddry and moved to Monroe until her death. They had two children, David White Maddry and Claudette White Maddry.

She loved her church, family, and friends. She was a member of P.E.O. Her passion was being a homemaker and mother. She was a life-long Methodist, and a member of First Methodist Church in Monroe since 1963. She was a member of Collins Sunday School Class until it disbanded due to only a few members. It was then that she joined the Oasis Sunday School. She was also a member of United Methodist Women.

Betty is preceded in death by her father, Claude Serpell White; her mother, Velma Dewees White; her husband, Warren C. Maddry; and her great granddaughter, Maddry Grace Trahan.

Survivors include her son, David White Maddry and wife Ann Shelton Maddry; daughter, Claudette White Maddry Bartlett and husband Don A. Bartlett; four grandchildren, Rebecca “Becky” Foster and husband Larry Foster, Michael David Bartlett and wife Amy Hart Bartlett, Margaret Ann Maddry Laurent and husband Brandon Laurent, Amy Elizabeth Maddry Trahan and husband Jay Trahan; and great grandchildren, Ram Foster, Bruin Foster, Ava Bartlett, Scott Laurent, Elizabeth Laurent, Braud Laurent, and Ben Trahan.

Pallbearers will be Donald Bartlett, Michael Bartlett, Brandon Laurent, Jay Trahan, Larry Foster, and Ram Foster.

Memorials may be made to First Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
