Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Betty Spence, 82, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 16, 2021 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe, LA. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Spence died October 12, 2021 at the Oak Haven Community Care Center in Centerpoint, LA. She was born in Monroe, LA and raised in Fairbanks, LA. Betty attended Fairbanks Elementary and graduated from Ouachita Parish High School. She worked for several doctors over the years and retired from working with Dr. Courtman. She was a loving mom, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Betty loved playing bingo, listening to the One Man Band and was a talented artist who had a gift of coloring pictures.
Mrs. Spence is preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Spence and her parents, Lloyd Sr. and Nora Stewart Cole.
Family left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Cindy Mays and husband, James, and Tracy Spence; grandchildren, Brandy Mays and Fiancé, Les West, Jeffrey Mays and wife, Tasha, Jeremy Mays and wife, Stacie, Ashley Pruitt, Chad Pruitt, Jacob Pruitt and wife, Rachel, and Nathan Pruitt; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Cole, Jr. and wife, Beverly; niece, Amy Evans; nephew, Todd Cole; sisters-in-law, Susan Savage and husband, Stacey, Phyllis Temple and husband, Billy Joe, Carrie Nell Windle, Cheryl Spence and Sandy Spence; brothers-in-law, BB Spence and wife, Kay and Tush Spence; along with several cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeremy Mays, Chad Pruitt, Jacob Pruitt, and Nathan Pruitt and her great grandsons, Colton Miller and Trevor Mays. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Mays, Tush Spence, BB Spence, and Jordan Davis.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until Service Time on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of Oak Haven and All Saints Hospice. The nurses, staff and Aides provided exceptional care and companionship to Betty during her stay at the facility.
