Betty Jane Bushnell

Betty Jane Yeldell Bushnell, 93, of Dallas, TX, formerly of Monroe, LA, passed away Saturday April 22, 2017. She was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana State College (ULM) with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught in the Monroe City School System at Sherrouse, Lexington, and Georgia Tucker schools. She moved on to NLU (ULM) where she worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Academic Affairs.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Louie Asbury and Louise Blanchard Yeldell; and husband, Robert R. “Bob” Bushnell.

She is survived by her sons, R. Wayne Bushnell of Dallas, TX and David N. Bushnell and wife, Denise of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Staci Bushnell Fontenot and husband, Michael, Becki Bushnell, Brandon Bushnell and wife, Nora, and Ryan Bushnell; 6 great-grandchildren, Logan and Katelyn Fontenot, Leslie, Alonzo, Bryan and Sydney Bushnell; and her brother, Louie Asbury “Buddy” Yeldell, Jr. of Hendersonville, TN.

Visitation will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Sterlington Rd, Monroe, LA on Friday May 5, 2017, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Saturday May 6, 2017, at 1:00 PM at College Place Baptist Church with Rev. Stan Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
