Betty Carolyn Leggett Wood

Funeral services for Betty Carolyn Leggett Wood, 85, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wood was born December 23, 1932, in Dentville, MS, and died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at her residence. She was a member of New Light Baptist Church, where she was very active in the church choir, drove the church van, and served many years on the kitchen committee. Mrs. Wood enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, gardening, and quilting. She was a former owner of Made Rite Sandwich Shop and a retired bus driver for Ouachita Parish Schools.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie L. Wood, Sr.; parents, Armond White and Edna Moody Leggett; brothers, L.B. Leggett, Sr. and Carlos M. Leggett; sister, Jean Leggett Lewis; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Jordan Reese.

Survivors include her children, Eddie L. Wood, Jr. and wife Pat, Carl (Buddy)Wood and wife Darlene, and Debbie Wood; grandchildren, Chad Wood, Brad Wood, Jessica Wood Reese and husband Trey, Polly Pritchard, and Walker Wood and wife Leah; great-grandchildren, Carley Wood, Rylie Wood, Cooper Reese, Brooke Wood, Logan Reese, Piper Wood, Emmaleigh Wood, and Hannah Jerkins; and extended family, Marshall and Susan Hill of Dentville, MS.

Pallbearers will be Dewey Wood, Pete Leggett, Charles Wood, Chad Wood, Brad Wood, and Trey Reese. Honorary pallbearers will be Walker Wood, Lanny Leggett, and Deacons of New Light Baptist Church.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her caretakers, Brenda Wood and Polly Keen.
