Harold was born on October 9, 1921 in Weleetka, Oklahoma. He moved to Groom ,Texas when he was 19 years old where he met the woman that he married at 20 years of age. He was happily married to Narcesia Cranmer Baker from 1941 until she passed away in 2009. Harold entered the U. S. Army in WWII and served in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. He returned to the USA and lived in Texas, Idaho, and finally Louisiana.

Survivors include his three children: daughter, Beverly Walker and husband Dennis of Homedale, Idaho; sons, E. H. Baker, PH.D., MP and wife Ambia of Monroe; and Bill Baker, MSW, and wife Debra of Meridian, Idaho; eight grandchildren, Bryan, Mike, and Mark Walker, Douglas, Caroline, James, and Steven Baker, and Nicholas Baker; 11 great grandchildren, Justin, Sigourney, Allie, Cameron, Connor, Jessica, Jordan, Allen, David, Meredith, and Ambia (Jr.); 2 great-great grandchildren, Jaice and Wesley.

Mr. Baker was devoted to his wife of 67 years, lived life to its fullest, and had a deep affection for all of his family. He passed away on September 19, 2010.

Memorial services will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, on Friday September 24, 2010, at 2:00 PM. A visitation time will precede the Memorial Service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. In addition, a Memorial Service for Harold Baker will be held in Meridian, Idaho on September 26, 2010, at 1:00 PM at 2024 W. Waltman Street.
