Memorial services for Mrs. Barbara N. Zeagler, 65, of Monroe, will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2019, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA with Dr. Mark Fenn and Rev. Jarrod Hawthorne officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Barbara was born December 15, 1953, and passed away, Sunday, February 3, 2019, at her home after a twenty month battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Barbara was a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner having been trained at the Northeast Louisiana University School of Nursing and later at the university of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Advanced Nurse Practitioner School. She truly loved her career and was a compassionate and skilled professional to her patients. Barbara worked for Dr. Leslie Coffman OB/GYN for over thirty years and the family would like to thank he and her co-workers for their support and encouragements during her illness.
Barbara was a competitive runner who ran countless Five K’s and half marathons, winning or placing in many of them. Her two rescue dogs gave her much pleasure, along with working in her back yard. She loved going to the beach in Destin, FL and watching the waves and the dolphins. She was a devoted caretaker to her parents and put them above all else. She is going to be greatly missed by all who depended on her to make life better.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Robert Guy Pilgreen; sister, Tawanna Gayle Pilgreen; and beloved step-father, Dallas Burns Hanna; mother and father in-law, Mildred O. and Cary T. Zeagler Sr.
Survivors include husband, Cary T. Zeagler Jr.; son, Johnathan T. Zeagler; mother, Barbara Ann Hanna; sister, Tanya Diane Hanna, sister and special caregiver, Lana Noe and husband Gale; and brother, Johnny Guy Pilgreen and wife Tammy; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Benjamin B. Weinberger and his staff at “Oncology Associates of Monroe” for their skill and professional manner. Also, thanks to St. Joseph Hospice who provided comfort and spiritual uplift during Barbara’s last weeks.
