Barbara Roberts McConaughey

Graveside service for Mrs. Barbara Roberts McConaughey, 87, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 9, 2024, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.

Mrs. McConaughey was born on August 8, 1936, in Monroe and passed away on February 5, 2024, in Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, George L. McConaughey, Jr.; parents, Forrest “Frosty” and Lillie Roberts; brother-in-law, George Douglas. Mrs. McConaughey worked at Merrill Lynch in Monroe for over 40 years. 

“Babs” as she was lovingly referred to would everyday call both her children just to check in and make sure they were ok. She would also contact all her cousins and friends and she shared a very special bond with her sister, Pat Douglas, calling everyone with a loving heart to ask if they were all doing good and say I love you. She was the historian and genealogy expert of the family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her two sons, Mark McConaughey and Randy McConaughey and wife Kelli; three grandchildren, Dr. Brantlee McConaughey and wife Haley, Taylor McConaughey, and Nolan McConaughey; great granddaughter, Aria Surratt and one due to arrive next month, Amelia Rose McConaughey; sister, Patricia Douglas; special nephews, Tracy and Paul Douglas; special niece, DeAnn Douglas Van der gracht; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.
