Barbara Jean Bertrand Domingues, 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, surrounded by her family. To most, she was known as Barbara, to her family she was Jean. To her precious grandchildren, she was simply known as Nana.

Barbara was born on October 27, 1944, in Elton, LA to Joseph Isaac and Amy Taylor Bertrand. She was a 1962 graduate of Kinder High School and attended Sowela Technical School and McNeese State University. Barbara gave almost 50 years of service in ministry – beginning at First Baptist Church of Lake Charles for Dr. Van Eaton. She then worked for the Louisiana Baptist Convention and, finally, most of her career was spent serving at First Baptist Church in West Monroe working with Dr. Tennison, Dr. Dennis Swanberg, and Dr. David Uth.

Barbara was an avid reader and woman of many talents. She was a natural artist, a published author, and a poet. She used her “gift of rhyme” as she would say, writing poetry to minister to others - sharing poems she tailored to remember a birthday or a loved one. She used this gift to encourage, inspire, and comfort her family, friends and church members. She was kind to all that knew her as well as a smiling face and a cheerful hello to all.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Philip René Domingues; her daughter, Stacy Webb and husband, Barry Webb; her grandchildren, Christopher, Luke, Emma Webb and fiancé, Brock Harvey; and her siblings, Marilyn Meaux (Glenn), Carla Marcantel (Tonas), and Richard Bertrand (Beverly), as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Barry (Sr.) and Ann Webb for their love and friendship to Barbara and her family for over 30 years. In addition, the family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Compassus Hospice, especially nurses Mia & Lauren; Amera Assisted Living facility; Miss. Pam Johnson, one of her caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to First Baptist Church West Monroe.
