Funeral service for Mrs. Barbara Hardee, 80, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Monroe, LA with Rev. Brian Mercer officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service in the mausoleum chapel.
Barbara was born in Meridian, MS on July 28, 1941. She and Tom were married in Meridian in 1962.
In 1967, they moved to Birmingham, AL where he was employed by State Farm Insurance Company. Subsequent transfers took them to Murfreesboro, TN, Bloomington, IL, and Monroe, LA.
While living in Monroe, she enjoyed golfing with other ladies at Bayou Desiard Country Club and was elected president of the BDCC Ladies Golf Association. She and Tom joined a couple’s golf group and both enjoyed the friendly monthly competition followed by appropriate refreshments. For many years, she loved attending the Sunday brunch at BDCC with live music, excellent food, and service.
They enjoyed visits to Europe, Hawaii, the northern California wine country, and a Lewis and Clark guided tour in Montana and Idaho which included two days of canoeing down the Missouri River for 20 miles.
She had many friends who she loved, especially Kim Loflin for her continuing expressions of love, thoughtfulness, and generosity.
She is survived by her husband for almost 60 years, Tom; two precious nephews, Michael and David; an angel of a cousin, Cathy; and several other cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Avi Reddy, Don Marx, Larry Winter, Chris Holyfield, Bill Morrow and Frank Spooner.
The family appreciates the dedicated service she received from Compassus Hospice and from her private caretakers, especially Arrin Robinson and Jaime Smith.
