Austin Morris

Funeral Services for Austin Morris, 25, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 21, 2022, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Charles Dupree officiating. Interment will follow in New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with John Matthews officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Friday at the church.

Austin Morris was born October 10, 1996 and went home to JESUS January 15, 2022.

Although Austin Morris was handicapped with Down’s Syndrome and Autism, he led a life full of happiness, joy and love. Austin’s smile was so contagious and his heart so full of LOVE. If you met him, you loved him, and he loved you. He would steal your heart in the blink of an eye.

Austin loved watching movies, listening to momma read books, sleeping with his daddy, and most of all worshipping and praising JESUS through his music. He loved all gospel music with Testify and Elvis as his favorite singers.

Austin exemplified true love with his huge heart. He was so fun, silly, full of joy, smart, caring, loving, tender, and so incredibly sweet. While challenged with his limitations and without having a social media platform he still impacted thousands of people’s lives. Even when he was sick or hurting, he never complained, he never had a hidden agenda, he only saw the best in people, had no conception of evil, and used his smile and unforgettable giggle to make you feel loved and special.

The world is a better place because of Austin and the love he shared will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, G.W. and Janice McVay; grandmother, Janette Morris; and cousin, Matthew Lord.

Survivors include his parents, Brian and Tami Morris; brother, Landon Morris; grandfather, Jimmy Morris; aunts and uncles, John and Tonya Matthews, Greg and Aimee Morris, Jimbo Morris and fiancée Julie Watson, Clay and Lisa Lord, Jack and LeAnn Avery, Marc and Wendi McVay, and David and Sigrid McVay; and cousins, Sarah Hyatt, Anna Grace McVay, Zach and Meagan Morris, Kristin Chandler, Lauren Morris, Brooke Morris, Alex Matthews, Abigail Matthews, Andrew Matthews, David and Leslie Newbold, Drew Avery, Whit Morris, Noah Lord, Evie Lord, Eli Lord, Claire Hyatt, Bella Hyatt, Naomi Hyatt, Amelia Hyatt, Jaclyn Morris, Livy Chandler, and Shelby Newbold.

Pallbearers will be Christian McVay, Greg Morris, Jimbo Morris, Clay Lord, Alex Matthews, Andrew Matthews, Drew Avery, Don Ashley, Zach Morris, and Marc McVay. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tony Malone.
