Funeral services for Mr. Arnold Lee “Slick” Moore, age 78, will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Reverend Terry Mims officiating the service. Herbert W. Otwell, Monroe Chief of Police (interim) will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Moore was born May 19, 1932 in West Monroe, LA and passed away October 19, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Johnnie Belle Volkman Moore and his father and step-mother, Claude and Helen Moore.
Mr. Moore was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Air Force as Sergeant Air Police from 1951-1955. He retired from the Monroe Police Department as a Major, after 26 years of faithful service. He served in the Active Police Reserves from 1987-1996, and was the Police Reserve Advisor since 1996. He was selected as Supervisor of the Year in 1982, among other awards. He compiled a history of the Monroe Police Department, 1783-1983, which was published by the Monroe Police Department.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Madge Zumbro Moore; sons, Richard Moore and wife Sharon of Monroe, LA and Michael Moore and wife Michelle of Germantown, TN; daughter, Deborah Moore Bolding and husband Perry of Little Rock, AR ; grandchildren, Adam and Andrew Moore, Aaron and Hannah Moore, Meredith Bolding, Mitchell Bolding and wife Jacqueline; two great-grandchildren, Elle and Peyton Bolding; brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Watts; four nieces; and two nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are members of the Monroe Police Reserves and the Honor Guard will be members of the Monroe Police Department. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 5PM – 8PM on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 and Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 12 noon – 1 pm at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Sterlington Road in Monroe.
