Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Andrew Ordell “Buddy” Milstead, Jr., 81, of Ruston, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 3, 2019, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Dana Thrash and Chuck Cook officiating.
Mr. Milstead was born August 3, 1937, and passed away February 28, 2019, at Overton Brooks Veterans Medical Center in Shreveport, LA.
Mr. Milstead was a member of the Clay United Methodist Church in Clay, LA. He was a veteran of the United States Navy; he served many years in Law enforcement with the Monroe Police Department and the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he served as Chief Deputy of the Correctional Center. He was the former owner of USA Truck Stop in Calhoun, LA, and was in the land development business, where he made many lasting relationships with his business partners. Buddy’s long passion was his love of horses. He enjoyed more than anything seeing his daughter, Kim and his granddaughters, become expert barrel racers.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leah Elliott Milstead; parents, A.O, Sr. and Maxine Milstead; sister, Lona M. Richardson; and step-daughter, Cindy Lynn Lenard.
Survivors: his wife of 36 years, Florentina R. (Tina) Milstead; daughter, Kim Neal; step-children, Nancy Knowles (Rick), Steve Wooley (Missy), Glen Wooley (Debbie); three Grandchildren, Jossie Patterson (Thornton), Chancie Neal Billadeau (Bryan), Chesnie Neal; 5 step-grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren; brothers, Tommy Milstead (Dood) and Robert Milstead (Marilyn); and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
