Anna Valentine McGowen passed away peacefully at Ouachita Healthcare Rehabilitation Center on the morning of Monday, January 24, 2022, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 91.
Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
An intimate memorial service will be held in Mrs. McGowen’s honor at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Eastside Church of God, with Ptr. John Moden officiating.
Mrs. McGowen, daughter of the late Glover and Winnie (nee Fox) Valentine, was born on October 21, 1930, in Oak Grove, Louisiana. A retired administrative secretary, Anna lived in Monroe most of her life. A loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, “Gram” was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years and was active in Eastside Church of God throughout the years.
Mrs. McGowen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 ½ years, Quinon McGowen; daughter, Wanda Akins; sister, Fran Smith; and grandson, Robbie McGowen.
Mrs. McGowen’s survivors include her sons, Alan Glenn McGowen of Monroe, LA, James Mark McGowen (Alene Drummond) of Little Rock, AR; daughter, Margie Moden (John) of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Sarah McGowen (Bryan Stewart) of Swartz, LA, Quinon Lee Beebe (Melanie) of West Monroe, LA, Amanda McGowen Phillips (Tyler) of Baton Rouge, LA, Laura Beebe Hayden (jeff) of West Monroe, LA, Caleb Beebee (Kris Glass) of Monroe, LA, Ryan McGowen (Chelsea) of Spanish Fort, AL; great grandchildren, Collin Ramsey (Bailey) of West Monroe, LA, Avery Free of West Monroe, LA, Triston Stewart of West Monroe, LA, Kayla and Brock McGowen of Albertville, AL, and Wally and Wesley Hayden of West Monroe, LA.
Though we deeply miss Anna McGowen already, we look forward to sharing many wonderful memories and celebrating her life.
