Ann B Cole

June 5, 1930 — July 2, 2016

Ann Buatt ColeAnn Buatt Cole was welcomed home to Heaven on July 2, 2016. Ann was born on June 5, 1930 in Monroe, LA to Ruth and Scott Buatt. She grew up in Bonita, LA where she graduated from high school and earned her degree in Home Economics from Louisiana Tech University. She began 56 years of marriage when she met and married the love of her life, John R. “Jack” Cole, and following several years in Dallas and California, they established their lives in Monroe. Ann was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she taught the women’s Sunday school class for 30 years and volunteered in every aspect possible. She taught pre-school at the Church for almost 20 years, planted and sold Christmas trees, worked at The Pillar’s and started her own tour guide service in order to share the history and sites of Monroe with others. Her last career, and one of her most favorite, was as a docent at the Biedenharn Biblical Arts Museum and Gardens. It was her joy to give tours. She genuinely loved her community and worked to promote it through the Junior League, Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution, Sigma Kappa Alumnae and United Methodist Women. In every organization, she was a worker as well as a leader. She loved playing bridge, hosting friends, giving book reviews, long drives with Jack, the beach, dancing and creating beauty. Ann treasured her family, especially her grandchildren, and her many dear friends. She never met a stranger and viewed life as an ongoing adventure. She was a joyful, generous lady who possessed the unique ability to make everyone feel special. She made conscious decision “to choose to be happy no matter what life offered” and lived by that principal every day of her life. She will pass along a legacy of love, friendship and faithfulness to all who knew her.She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Baker Buatt. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jack and Nancy Cole and their children John, Mitchell and Caroline; daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Andy Welch and their children Thomas and Sarah Kate; brother and sister-in law Bob and Annette Buatt and niece Aimee Buatt Trumpower; and sister-in-law Mary Lou Turpin and nieces Cherri Turpin Johnson and Kim Turpin Davis.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church followed by the funeral services for Ann at 11:00 AM at the Church.
