Andrew Tyler Tillman (“Ty”), beloved son of C.R. Tillman, Jr. and Ja-Nell (Smith) Tillman, passed away on August 20, 2022, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
Ty was born on June 18, 1981, in West Monroe, and spent his entire life in Monroe. He graduated from River Oaks High School in 1999. He was a multi-talented athlete who played football and basketball at River Oaks.
Ty loved his four children first and foremost. He also loved his extended family and his many friends. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Over the years, Ty held many jobs including in contracting, construction, and lawn care. He loved working alongside his father and took pride in being a skilled craftsman. As a teenager, he learned to play the guitar, and music remained his lifelong passion. He not only enjoyed playing guitar and writing songs himself, but also supporting his many musician friends.
Ty is survived by his parents; his children Mia, Ava, Millie, and Max, and their mother Jody (Maynard) Tillman, all of Monroe. He is also survived by his sister Kristy Tillman of Washington D.C. Also sharing in the grief of his passing are a host of extended family and lifelong friends, including dear friend, Jennifer Mercer.
A service will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 Sterlington Road, Monroe, Louisiana, 71203, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 P.M. The service will be conducted by the Reverends Jay George and Chris Winterman. Interment to follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 80 East, Monroe.
Harry Smith, David Bigge, Kevin Maynard, Tracy Rainwater, Trey Magee, and Jed Counselman will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital of Shreveport or River Oaks School of Monroe.
