Funeral services for Alvin Oliver (A. O.) Doughty, Jr., 79, of Rayville, LA will be held at
10:00 A. M. Friday March 30, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Rayville, LA with Rev. James Doughty and Dr. Eddie Wrenn officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 at the church. Interment will follow at Rayville Masonic Cemetery, Rayville, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Rayville.
Pallbearers will be John Lowery, Ricky Bridges, Donnie Lee, Matthew Ford Doughty, Bradford Boothe Doughty, and Jon-Thomas Dixon
A. O. was born February 18, 1939 in Tullos, LA to Alvin Oliver Doughty, Sr. and Eunice Paul Doughty. He passed away Monday March 26, 2018 in Rayville, LA
A graduate of Rayville High School, A. O. owned B&D Blowpipe/Sheet Metal, a cotton gin repair business, until he retired in the late 1990’s. He regularly employed high school students during the summers and helped benefit the lives of many young men in the Richland Parish area. A. O. was also an avid outdoorsman and hunter, loving the woods, especially, the Winnsboro Hunting Club in Tensas Parish, where he taught his children and grandchildren to hunt. For most of his life, A. O. was a member of First Baptist Church of Rayville. A. O. was a warrior, fighting an addiction over which he finally found victory through the power of the Lord.
Mr. Doughty was preceded in death by his parents, A. O. Doughty, Sr. and Eunice Paul Doughty; wife, Virginia Ware Doughty; and granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Doughty.
He is survived by his beloved children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Sons, Judge Terry A. Doughty and wife, Jan, and David Paul Doughty and wife, Suzette, all of Rayville, LA; Daughter, Dana Doughty Dixon and husband, Jeff, of Mer Rouge, LA; Grandchildren, Lauren Doughty Popp, Matthew Ford Doughty, Bradford Boothe Doughty, James Oliver Doughty, Mary Caroline Doughty, Mary Margaret Dixon, Jon-Thomas Dixon, Logan Morris, Jordan Morris, Clayton Morris, and Brennan Morris. Great Grandchildren, Payton Purvis, Piper James Doughty, Chapal Ford Doughty, Aniston Morris and John Clayton Morris.
