Alice L. Bower Baggett
Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Alice L. Bower Baggett, 78, of Monroe, LA, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, with Bishop Ruston Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Alice L. Bower Baggett passed away on August 1, 2020, joyfully rejoining her sweetheart and eternal companion, Claude Thurston Baggett. Alice was born in Monroe, LA on October 17, 1941, the daughter of Pearl Fennell Bower Corry and Louis John Bower. She attended Selmon Field and Sherrouse Elementary, Neville Junior and Senior High School, and Louisiana Tech where in 1962 she met and married Claude Thurston Baggett from Shreveport.
Together for 58 years, they followed his career, living in Monroe, New Jersey, Southern California, Atlanta, Georgia, Denver, Boulder, Longmont, Colorado, retiring to Monroe in 1998. And wherever they lived, they were both active and served as leaders in the LDS church. Claude died of cancer on October 1, 2007 and Alice stayed in their home serving as stake relief society president for five years. Then moved to Sandy, Utah in 2013 continuing in church leadership and genealogy work. Their home has been blessed over the years by three wonderful children, over 28 foster children, and four international foreign exchange students over the years. Alice taught early morning seminary classes for high school students for 15 years total. She and Claude also served a two year church mission teaching college students at Southern Virginia University from 2001-2003, along with many other leadership positions. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed sewing, staining glass, church work, genealogy, cooking, seminary work, painting, hairdressing.
She is survived by three children, Rebecca Justice-Ruddick, André Baggett (Bibi), Amanda Sidoti (Greg); and nine grandchildren, Zack, Christian, David, Azule, Gabriella, Dominic, Cameron, Gregory, and Alaina; sister, Roberta Jean Bower Halsell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, August 7, 2020, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
