Funeral Service for Mr. Alfred "Sam” Remides, 85 of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 7, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA with Fr. Frank Coens officiating. Interment will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, LA.
Mr. Remides was born June 5, 1932, in Many, LA and passed away on May 3, 2018. He served in the United States Army for 8½ years. He worked at May Foods, Jowers Grocery, and River City Market as a Meat Cutter. He had a huge clientele that followed from store to store. He truly enjoyed his customers as he watched their family grown up. He loved fishing, watching sports, visiting with his family and friends.
Mr. Remides is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann C. Remides, by his parents, Prude and Janie Remedies, brothers Levi Remedies, Bill Remides, Jay Remidez, Henry Remides, Jim Tobey and by his sisters Nancy Bruce, Josephine Solice, Wilma Brown and Pete Bush.
Survivors include children: Chuck Remides, Dennis Remides and wife Debbie Remides, Angela Remides, Donna Remides, Samantha Remides, Stephen Remides and Smitty Remides, Grandchildren: Lindsey Remides, Madison Remides, Katherine Anne Remides, James Jewett, Jesse Jewett, Jeffery Jewett, Crystal Jewett and Jake Jewett along with numerous nieces and nephews, special friends: Jim Avant, Debs Laird and D.K. Allen and special children he help raised and had an influence on their lives: Gary Lillie, Byron Williams, Donald Barrett, Ronald Barrett, Steve Leonard, Dawn Webb, Kay Osbon, John Neighbors, Thad Butler, Shannon Harper, Eddie Breen, Cory Hart, Kevin Hanks and David Richardson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, May 6, 2018, with a vigil wake service at 6:00 P.M., following with a rosary at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Pallbearers are Chuck Remides, Dennis Remides, Stephen Remides, Smitty Remides, Levi David Remides and Debs Laird.
