Alfred Ray Bartlett, 72, of Lindale, TX, died April 24, 2024, in Tyler, TX, after a long illness. Al “Ray” was born November 28, 1951, in Mexia, TX. His family later moved to Monroe, LA, where he attended school. He was a meat buyer for Malone and Hyde in Monroe, LA, for ten years. He then worked as a salesman for various companies in Monroe and Shreveport, LA, and Tyler, TX, until he retired in December 2021. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, TX.
Ray is proceeded in death by parents, Alford Bartlett and Billie Bartlett Smith, and stepfather, Bob Smith; and sister, Jeannie Wade.
He is survived by his wife, Mellonie of Lindale, TX; his in-laws, Derrell Clark and wife, Wilma of Arp, TX; his sister, Alphia Medine and husband, Tommy of St. Francisville, LA; his brother, Donny Bartlett and wife, Claudette of Monroe, LA; brother -in-law, Buddy Wade of West Monroe, LA; brother-in-law, Ron McKay and wife, Darline of Frankston, TX. He is also survived by his daughter, Stephanie Green and husband, Lee of Dubach, LA; son, Chris Bartlett and wife, Mickie of Sheridan, AR; daughter, Bethany Snow and husband, Todd of Bullard, TX; and daughter, Amanda Enright and husband, Trey of Bullard, TX; grandsons, Phillip Green and wife, Destiny of Calhoun, LA, CJ Green of West Monroe, LA, Bailey Green of Dubach, LA, Ryan Enright, and Riley Enright of Bullard, TX, and Aden and Liam Bartlett of Sheridan, AR; granddaughters, Emily Enright and Chloe Snow of Bullard, TX; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray’s passion and favorite pastime was working in his yard. He was happiest when he was outside. He could not leave a leaf on the ground, a weed unpulled or a blade of grass uncut. He found joy in taking an unruly yard and restoring order. He will be missed by all who loved him, but those who loved him know he is at peace
A visitation will be held at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Monroe, LA, this Saturday, May 11, at 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held immediately after at 2:00 P.M. in the mausoleum.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
