Funeral service celebrating the life of James “Ron” Poindexter, 57, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Fair Park Baptist Church in West Monroe with Rev. Waymond Warren officiating. The family invites everyone to attend a celebration reception immediately following the service in the reception hall at Fair Park Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA

Ron was born on December 20, 1955 in West Monroe, Louisiana and passed away after suffering a massive stroke on February 23, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Dell Poindexter.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dianna Perry Poindexter; his children, Cara Brown and husband, Hunter Brown, Kellen Poindexter, and Amy Poindexter; his adored grandchildren, Andrew Archer (Papa’s Buddy), Bailor Brown (Papa’s Sunshine) and Carlie Ann Brown (Papa’s Heart); his sister, Cheryl Poindexter Anderson and husband, Larry Anderson; his aunt, Chris Blackstock; and his beloved Boston Terriers, Priscilla, Pearl, Penelope, Tyson, and June.

Ron was a graduate of West Monroe High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Louisiana Tech and was a faithful employee to Columbian Chemical Company and Dow Chemical of Sterlington, LA.

His life was devoted to his wife and family. He loved taking trips to the beach and sitting on the balcony surrounded by laughing grandchildren. He took such pride in watching his little buddy play baseball and attending West Monroe and LSU football games. Friends of Ron will attest that he would do anything for anyone.

We could never express our appreciation to our friends and family for their unconditional love and support through this very difficult time. The family appreciates the compassionate care of Glenwood Regional Medical Center, Pafford Air, and LSUS Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jason Paul Cameron Foundation, P.O. Box 2474, West Monroe, LA 71294-2474.

I first met Ron about 14 years ago when I visited with him at work. I could tell he was a fine person from the start. After that, I mostly interacted with him by phone or e-mail, but he was always such a pleasure. I am so sorry for your loss, and I have been praying for your comfort and will continue to do so. May the amazing love of our Lord bring you peace.

I met Ron many years ago when he worked on the carbon black industry committee on environmental health. After he left Columbian Chemicals I kept in touch with him at Angus Chemical. I was sent the notice of Ron's passing by a fellow friend at Columbian, and have passed along the information to the emebers who knew and worked with Ron as well. A great fellow to work with, great person to know, and a guy who cared about his family and friends. I'm sorry to have lost another great friend, and I want to send condlences to the family on behalf of many of us still in carbon black who had the pleasure of his company. Sincerely, Todd N.
